Shambhala Families Group

The quarterly Shambhala families group meeting is an informal opportunity for  parents and their children to gather as families and share time together. The emphasis of the meetings is to engage in family practice, shared activities and enjoy being together as a group at the London Shambhala Centre. Families with children of all ages are very welcome from newborn to teens. The children’s activities currently tend to be more more focused on children under 10 but older children are welcome to join in to or to help out.

In 2018 we will be meeting from 1.30-3.30pm (tea / snacks from 3pm) at the centre on the following dates:
  • 4th March
  • 2nd Sept
  • 16th Dec

2018 SUMMER CAMPING TRIP NEWS: We have reserved the weekend of 26th-28th May for our annual families camping trip. This is a relaxed weekend (2 nights – near Brighton) where we have the opportunity to celebrate being families together – cooking, eating, fire-making, walking in nature, game-playing, just hanging out and being etc. Chantry Farm is a small site with only a few camping spots (though lots of space), so could you please contact us if you’d like to join us for the weekend, and how many of you (adults and children) are able to come. (As an example – 2 adults and 2 children cost £88 for 2 nights with you own tent).

Cost: Free of charge

Mindful Parenting

Mindfulness has fast become popular in recent years and has become the fabric of many peoples lives, in this course we translate the teachings to develop our family relationships. Mindfulness can nourish us as parents and greatly benefit our family lives. It can help us to reduce stress, speed and destructive behaviour; enable us to disengage from emotionally-charged stimuli; and support us to be fully present for our children.
In these sessions we will practice some simple mindfulness techniques and will explore how these practices can be brought into family life.  We’ll introduce mindfulness of everyday activities that can help us enjoy our moments with our children. We’ll also explore practices which help us to open and soften in difficult circumstances, and to handle those moments when our children are challenging.
