Open to all!

We usually associate happiness with fleeting moments of satisfaction, pleasure or comfort, but the Shambhala teachings and the meditation practice they are based on can lead us to a deeper and more enduring happiness. This is the path we set out to explore in this weekend as mindfulness practice begins to open us to the depth and dimension of the present moment where we learn to appreciate who and what we really are.

The Shambhala Training Level 1 introductory weekend explores and deepens the basic technique of mindfulness meditation. By settling our minds we begin to see the magic of the world beyond our habitual filters. We experience the power and fulfillment of resting in the present and begin to make friends with ourselves.

About this Programme

Shambhala Training Weekend I: Feel Human Again (aka The Art of Being Human) is the first weekend retreat in Shambhala Training. This mindfulness meditation retreat weekend presents the view that human beings, at their core, are fundamentally awake.

Through the practice of sitting and walking meditation, we will remember our natural confidence and relax to the freshness of the present moment, no matter what that moment may bring.

With the guidance of a senior Shambhala teacher and a group of experienced meditation instructors, we'll discover that awakening is not about escaping from the world we live in, but instead is about bringing a mindset of wakefulness to every aspect of our lives: work, play, relationships, and more.

About Weekend I

Shambhala Training Weekend I is designed for new meditators or those looking to reconnect with meditation practice. Our senior teacher will incorporate teachings on awake living into meditation instruction and informative talks. Students leave with the tools they need to bring a mindfulness meditation practice into their daily lives.

Shambhala Training Weekend I includes:

  • Guided meditation practice

  • Mindfulness meditation talks

  • Optional one-to-one meditation instruction

  • Concluding Sunday reception
